Well, I did it. I hit the 50k goal for NaNoWriMo. That is incredibly exciting. I'm not done with the novel, though. It should be finished in about 20-30k more words. I hope. Then it is break time, and then edit in January. Then I think I may start of the sequel for Camp NaNo. Maybe. I haven't decided yet.
So what does it mean now that I hit 50k. It means I won. What did I win, you ask? Bragging rights. Seriously. This wasn't a competition with with a nice shiny prize at the end. The goal of this was to write. Simply as that. Just sit down and write. It doesn't matter what you write. It doesn't matter if you didn't make it to the 50k goal. It doesn't matter if your story will never see the light of day. The object was the write. That is the beauty of NaNoWriMo. I'm glad that I took part in this. This is my third NaNo. The first one didn't pan out so well. I wrote a little over 7k then dropped out. I say that Skyrim came out during that time, which it did, but in actuality, I was scared. I went to a few of the weekly write-in and my social anxiety caused me to shut down. I was intimidated by the group. I'm glad I decided to suck it up and deal with it last year. I have met so many great people. I'm also glad that the group meets every Monday. It gave me an opportunity to actually get to know my group and I'm so glad I did. They are a unique group of socially awkward geeks and they have become my friends.
Okay enough sappiness.
