I Am Me.
I am dreaming and imagining
I wonder as I look at the stars, will we ever get there
I hear the whispering of the universe, millions and millions of stars seeking attention
I see the greatness of science and human ingenuity and all we can achieve if we work for it
I want freedom for all so that they may live a life of love, not hate
I am dreaming and imagining
I pretend that I am flying through the galaxies and nebulae of the universe
I feel the coolness of the dark and the warmth of the light
I touch the breath of the universe, pulsing, rushing, racing through me
I worry that I will be consumed by it
I cry at the negativity and the pure hatred towards the sciences by those who refuse to open their minds and think
I am dreaming and imagining
I understand the mind is more than just dogma and scholastics, it boundless imagination that is caged
I say that the mind needs to be uncaged
I dream of a world where children are allowed to be who they are, not what others want them to be.
I try to fight the chains of mental repression so that the imagination can live
I hope others will realize the beauty of the imagination. The who, the where, the why, the how, the what, the when.
I am dreaming and imagining.

So, hello world. I'm Ashley, but you can call me Ash. I'm 34 and I love to read, write, crochet, knit, hang out with my hubby and animals, and geek out about everything. I grew up in a small town in Texas and some how made it to Virginia. I like it here. I get to experience all four seasons and I could never leave the fall or the snow.
I have been writing for as long as I can remember. I have always loved to read and, once I made it past my "I want to chase tornadoes, work at Jurassic Park, be a captain on the Enterprise and own a real light saber" phase of my life, I decided that I want to be an author and share my stories with the world. For years I kept a collection of poetry and stories in several binders and various files on the computer with no idea what to do with them. It wasn't until I joined the local NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) group that I began to seriously pursue writing as a career. Now, armed with a computer, large amounts of coffee, and Twizzlers, I am working on an illustrated children's series as well as adult novels.
I currently live west of Washington D.C with my husband, Labrador, and three cats. I am an animal lover and have been involved in animal rescue for the past nine years and will happily talk your ear off about all things geek. And I still want a light saber.

P.S.S. I just made this blog my official author blog in May 2015. Prior to that it was a personal blog and I wasn't paying attention to things like....grammar and stuff.....I'm not going to go back to fix them, but I promise it will take care from now on.
